 Physical therapists are highly trained professionals who specialize in human movement.  The therapists here at Wickenburg Community Hospital are dedicated to providing rehabilitation needs associated with most movement-related conditions including:

In-Patient Rehabilitation

What's a "Swing Bed"?  Many people are unaware that we also offer rehabilitation for the acute and subacute inpatient setting!  In fact,
our  " Swing Bed" program is designed to provide high-level rehabilitation services for individuals with rehabilitation needs that extend beyond an "acute" hospital stay (72 hours).  Some examples of people who qualify for our "Swing Bed" program include: 
Post-surgical care (cardiac, joint, etc.)
Motor Vehicle Accident-related injuries
Stroke or Brain injuries
Exacerbation of chronic conditions
Falls
We work closely with the nurings staff to ensure that our patients get "back on their feet" again in the most safe and efficient manner possible

Meet Our Rehabilitation Team:

 :         Tara Littell, PT, DPT , Director of Rehabilitation Services, is honored to be back in her ometown of Wickenburg, where she was  born and raised.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Arizona State University in Kinesiology(the study of human movement) with a minor in Spanish.  She went on to earn her doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Northern Arizona University.  Her interest in physical therapy stems from an athelitc background and a fascination with optimal physical performance.  She enjoys a variety of physical therapy clientele.  Her areas of special interest include orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation,manual therapy for the spine and extremities, and functional excercise program development.  She is currently pursuing advanced training in women's health physical therapy.  

                                                      

                                                 Randall"Randy"Newbury, PT,MPT
       earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Colby College and his   Masters of Physical Therapy from Emory University in Atlanta,  Georgia.   He has extensive experience as a clinician both in the United States and in Vietnam where he resided for six years. While in Vietnam, he initiated therapy programs for residents with injuries and/or disabilities  He has a special interest in helping patients with neurological disorders(strokes, head injuries, muscular sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, ALS) and enjoys both inpatient and outpatient settings.   



                                                                                       

Melissa Anderson, PT, DPT received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with an emphasis in health professions from Northern Arizona University.  She went on to earn her doctorate of Physical Therapy  from A. T. Still University. She loves "small town" Arizona and enjoys playing rugby.  Her areas of expertise include acute and subacute rehabilitation and manual therapy.  She is currently pursuing advanced training for rehabilitation of the pelvic floor to enable her to effectively treat conditions including:  pelvic floor pain, urinary incontinence and ineffective pelvic floor musculature.



 Jordon Bettes, PT, DPT earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in 2006 following her Bachelor of Science Degree from Arizona State University (ASU) in 2003.  She is an Arizona native who grew up in Flagstaff, AZ.  She has extensive experience in manual therapy and various forms of exercise therapy.  Her physical therapy experience ranges from a large teaching hospital setting at Vanderbilt University to a small rural hospital in Enterprise, AL.  She is very excited to return to AZ where she is close to her family.  Jordan enjoys living in a small town and looks forward to offering her services and expertise to the community of Wickenburg and its surrounding areas.


                                                                             

                                                                            Bridgett Cisco, PTA
 
  is a certified physical therapy assistant.  She is enthusiastic and excited about her career.  She has roots in Wickenburg and attended two years of high school at Wickenburg High School.  She earned her Associates of Arts in General Studies and her Associates of Applied Science degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Gateway Community College following 25 years of working in retail.  She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Applied Science degree at NAU.  She has a strong desire to advance her learning and to pass on her knowledge and her skills

 

Occupational Therapy

Holly Jones, OT  Holly Jones is a graduate of Wickenburg High school, class of 2001. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State University and her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University.  Holly has focused the majority of her experience as an Occupational Therapist in the Rehabilitation of the Geriatric population.  Her areas of special interest include helping patients with neurological disorders (stroke, spinal cord injuries, Traumatic brain injuries), Cardiac disease and is LVAD certified, hand/wrist injuries, splinting, Home management/safety within one’s home environment and overall improving physical fitness.  Holly is currently working towards becoming a Certified Hand Therapist. 





Speech Therapy


 Richard Shields, MA,C.C.C. Speech Pathologist.
 
He is a Speech, Language and Swallow Consultant.  Born and raised in Brockway, PA., Richard received his undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy/Special Education from Edenboro University of Pennsylvania.  Shields completed his Graduate work in Speech Pathology with an emphasis in neurogenics.  
After a year of clinical fellowship in California, Shields owned and managed a private practice in Warren, Ohio for twenty years.  During that time he initiated Speech Patholgy Acute Care Services in three different hospitals. 
Since moving to Arizona in 2000, Richard Shields has served Wickenburg and surrounding area patients with Speech/Language and Swallow dysfunction.
