With summer right around the corner so is sandal season. Get those cracked heels healed and your feet looking smooth with a few tips from medical experts. According to Medicalnewstoday.com:
Cracked heels, also referred to as heel fissures, are a common foot condition, which can cause discomfort or even pain. They result from dry skin and are accompanied by thickened skin, plus sometimes yellow or brown calluses around the heel edge.
The article recommends up-ing your water intake; which is always a good thing, using an emollient or humectant moisturizer, applying an occlusive moisturizer over the top, wearing 100 percent cotton socks to bed, applying a keratolytic to thickened skin, gently rubbing thickened skin with a pumice stone, and using a liquid bandage.
If your heels are painful or become infected you may need to contact your physician. For information on your local Wickenburg Hospital Clinic follow the link provided.
