Wickenburg Community Hospital’s Orthopedic Practice is proud to introduce the newest member of its surgical team, Dr. Amber Randall, specializing in hip and knee replacement & revision. The addition of revision services will benefit the Wickenburg and surrounding communities greatly. Orthopedic revisions are necessary when a previous joint replacement ages causing discomfort or pain and now community members suffering from this kind of joint pain can receive care close to home.
A 1999 graduate of Harvard University, Dr. Randall completed her undergraduate studies with a major in linguistics and a minor in Arabic language. She went on to achieve her graduate degree at Harvard Medical University. Following graduation, Dr. Randall completed her general surgery training and orthopedic residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Once the orthopedic residency was finished, she tackled an additional year of rigorous fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. She has been practicing in Arizona since 2005 and is elated to join the team right here in Wickenburg.
Dr. Randall was asked what symptoms would require an evaluation by an Orthopedic Surgeon, and what would the evaluation include?
She responded by saying, “If you’re suffering from pain in your hip or your knee, even if you’re not sure where it’s coming from, I can certainly help you evaluate that. If you’re suffering from hip or knee pain, we would start with x-rays, typically of the hip or the knee and perhaps the lower back. In many cases, it may be something else entirely and the most common other situation that could occur would be lower back pain or a pinched nerve. I would do a thorough evaluation and talk to you fully about the history of the pain, your activities, things that you like to do and your life experiences. Once we determine whether you have arthritis of that joint or another condition, we can determine what would be the best possible treatment for you. A lot of times this does not involve surgery. Sometimes based on the history, your examination, and your x-rays we might determine that surgery is the most appropriate treatment for you.”
Dr. Randall is board-certified and the highest-rated total joint surgeon in the region. You can view her biography here to learn more. If you are experiencing pain in the hip or knee, please schedule your evaluation today either online from her bio page or call 928-668-5506.
