January 11th, 2023 ‐ Wickenburg, AZ – Wickenburg Community Hospital (WCH) is planning the development of an 80-unit senior living community, Ironwood Lodge, on the land across the street from the Hospital on the north side of Bralliar Road. Land improvements are expected to begin in the near future, which will include the removal of utility lines and the demolition of the Hospital’s Materials Management services on the corner of Bralliar Road and Tegner. A senior living community across from the hospital’s Rehabilitation Department will allow individuals to age in place while enjoying a wellness-oriented lifestyle.

Senior Residential Housing is sorely needed in our community. Per a recent study by OHC Healthcare Property Advisors, there is an immediate need for 93 assisted living units and 39 memory care beds. This need is expected to grow exponentially as Wickenburg and the surrounding areas continue to attract an older demographic. In fact, our community in a recent health needs assessment has identified aging problems as one of the most serious health concerns in the local area.

Ironwood Lodge will have 56 Assisted Living apartments and 24 Memory Care units. The 80-unit community will feature many common areas such as a commercial kitchen, medication room, assisted bathing room, activity room, enclosed court yards, laundry room, dining rooms, salon, theater, etc. Ironwood Lodge will be open to residents for monthly rental apartments with associated support services that include three meals daily, housekeeping, laundry, medication assistance, activities in common areas and more. Ironwood Lodge projects the hiring of 47+ employees that consist of but are not limited to an administrator, assistant administrator, nurse, cooks, maintenance personnel and caregivers.

The next phase of the project will be the completion of Architectural and Engineering plans to be submitted to the Town of Wickenburg for building permit approval. All appropriate building, fire/life/safety and health codes will be addressed during this phase of development. All details in the architectural and engineering plans will keep the end goal in mind of obtaining the building permit and ultimately a Certificate of Occupancy and an Arizona State License to operate a senior living community in Arizona.

Philanthropy is critical to bringing this much-needed care to our community. Wickenburg Community Hospital Foundation is seeking grants from the government and private foundations. Individual donors are also crucial. Visit: bit.ly/WCHSeniorLivingProject to make a donation designated for the development and construction of Ironwood Lodge.

The Grand Opening of this community is not expected to come earlier than the spring of 2024. To follow the progress of this state-of-the-art community, visit wickhosp.com/seniorliving.
