SCAM ALERT! COLLECTION AGENT FALSELY CLAIMS TO BE COLLECTING ON BEHALF OF WICKENBURG COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
WICKENBURG, AZ (July 22, 2019)
A patient of Wickenburg Community Hospital (WCH) has reported that an adult male came to his home over the weekend and falsely claimed to be a collection agent on behalf of the WCH. This unknown man stated he was at the patient’s home to collect the balance due to WCH.
The patient did not remit payment to the stranger. Instead, he reported to hospital staff as well as Wickenburg Police Department. Wickenburg Community Hospital has filed a police report and is urging community members to report any similar activity to the police immediately.
WCH will never send representatives to patients’ homes for any reason. In addition, the business office will not send an email for the purpose of collecting a debt. The WCH business office will send paper mail and make phone calls as needed to communicate with patients. There are several verification steps that must take place before a conversation concerning protected health information will occur.
If a community member is questioning the validity of any form of communication allegedly coming from WCH regarding debt collections, please call the business office at 928-684-4365, or come in person to the Rose Entrance Registration desk, Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Wickenburg Community Hospital takes the security of protected health information very seriously and will take every possible precaution to protect patient information.
