Wickenburg Community Hospital Pharmacy is pleased to offer community members free Medicare Part D consultations.
Medicare Part D is a program provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs for Medicare beneficiaries. Over 27 million Americans receive their prescription drug coverage through Medicare Part D. Patients are eligible to enroll in a Medicare Part D plan 3 months before their 65th birthday, the month of their 65th birthday, the 3 months following their 65th birthday and at any time during Open Enrollment.
Medicare Open Enrollment occurs every year from October 15th to December 7th. During this time, patients have the opportunity to either continue with their current plan or switch to a new plan that will take effect on January 1 of the new year. Part D plans change every year, and a patient’s current plan may not be the cheapest option anymore. Most folks can save $1,150 annually just by making sure they are on a Medicare Part D plan that best fits their specific medications.
“As the local pharmacy here in Wickenburg, we would love the chance to make finding the perfect Part D plan for our patients a little easier,” said Roger Rose, RPh. “The consultations are easy, free, tailored to a patient’s specific medications, and only take a few minutes. We recommend that Medicare Part D eligible beneficiaries do this every year at this time.”
Wickenburg Community Hospital Pharmacy utilizes a program called iMedicare to easily compare patients’ current Medicare Part D plan to others available. A pharmacist will sit down with each patient, discuss their current medications and generate a personalized plan comparison report in order to help them save hundreds of dollars each year on medication costs. Each Part D plan comparison report will compare yearly out-of-pocket costs, monthly premiums, annual deductibles and enrollment options. In addition, the pharmacist is able to estimate copays for every medication and determine which plans have restrictions, such as prior authorizations or quantity limitations. The report is ultimately able to show patients how much money they can save on their annual medication costs by switching their Medicare Part D prescription plan.
Wickenburg Community Hospital Pharmacy is now accepting consultation appointments.
