Quality Care

Understanding Quality Care

We believe patients should have accurate and easy-to-understand information to make the best health care decisions for themselves and their families.  It’s an essential part of our company values to make Wickenburg Community Hospital the world-class health and wellness leader for all communities we serve. We encourage our patients to actively participate in their health care decision making by:

  • Asking questions about the risks and benefits of health care recommendations
  • Bringing someone with you to the hospital or to doctor office visits
  • Always know why and how you are supposed to take your medications. Keep a list of all your medications in your wallet. Make sure your list includes the name of the medication, the dose you are taking and how often you take it. Make sure you keep your list updated.
  • Be sure you understand the plan of action for your care – if you are not sure, ask questions until the provider explains it to you so that you can understand
  • Repeating back to the healthcare provider what it is you think they have told you
  • Make sure you get prescribed laboratory tests done before your next doctor’s appointment
  • Determining who is in charge of your care – you need one lead provider (doctor) responsible for directing your healthcare
  • Making sure you receive a written copy of all instructions before you leave the doctor’s office or hospital
  • Tell the doctor if you have stopped any medication or treatment plans previously prescribed for you
