Foot & Ankle Pain Specialist

Foot pain refers to any pain or discomfort in one or more parts of the foot, such as the toes, heels, arches, and soles. While some occasional aches and pains are normal, reoccurring or chronic foot pain is an indication that there may be an underlying disorder that needs to be treated. Foot and ankle pain may be mild or severe and can occur due to certain lifestyle choices, medical conditions, or foot deformities.  Common causes of foot pain include improperly fitting shoes, high-impact sports, foot and ankle arthritis, tendonitis, diabetes, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, sprains, strains, fractures, bursitis, bunions, and neuromas.

If you are experiencing foot pain, a podiatrist is essential to make an assessment and develop a treatment plan. Our podiatrist, Tanner Moore, DPM specializes in the comprehensive treatment of foot and ankle pain at the Wickenburg Community Hospital Surgical Clinic in Wickenburg, AZ.   In many cases, simple measures can be implemented to relieve pain. In some instances where surgery is an option, Dr. Moore may first suggest splints, wraps, orthotics, inserts, stretching, exercises, regenerative medicine, or cortisone injections, if appropriate.

If you have foot or ankle pain and discomfort, we recommend that you come in for a comprehensive foot evaluation. To receive non-surgical and surgical podiatry care at Wickenburg Community Hospital Surgical Clinic call us at  928-668-5506 and make an appointment for a foot exam with Dr. Tanner Moore.

Plantar Fasciitis Specialist

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain in adults. The classic sign of plantar fasciitis is that the worst pain occurs with the first few steps in the morning, but not every patient will have this symptom. Patients often notice pain at the beginning of activity that lessens or resolves as they warm up. The pain may also occur with prolonged standing and is sometimes accompanied by stiffness. In more severe cases, the pain will also worsen toward the end of the day. [1]

A history of an increase in weight-bearing activities is a common cause of plantar fasciitis, especially those involving running, which causes microtrauma to the plantar fascia and exceeds the body’s capacity to recover. Plantar fasciitis also occurs in elderly adults. In these patients, the problem is usually more biomechanical, often related to poor intrinsic muscle strength and poor force attenuation secondary to acquired flat feet and compounded by a decrease in the body’s healing capacity. [2]

Our podiatrist, Dr. Tanner Moore, DPM specializes in treating foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis. Dr. Moore will perform a comprehensive foot exam to determine a treatment plan that best suits you.

Treatment may include evaluation of the patient’s shoes and physical activities, a strengthening and stretching program, arch supports and orthotics, night splints, anti-inflammatory agents, iontophoresis, corticosteroid, or regenerative medicine injections  In some instances, surgery may also be an option.

If you’ve got foot pain, discomfort or cosmetic issues, contact the Wickenburg Community Hospital Surgical Clinic at 928-668-5506  to schedule an appointment with Dr. Moore.
