I am a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons, in the specialty of general surgery. General Surgery is a broad specialty that includes diseases of the intestinal tract, trauma, endocrine, skin, muscle and blood vessels. Common operations and procedures include: colonoscopy, hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and surgery for cancers’ of the colon and breast. In addition to major operations, general surgeons also do office procedures to remove skin cancers, cysts, skin tags, external hemorrhoids and small tumors (lumps underneath the skin).
I began my training at The University of Virginia, followed by The Medical College of Virginia and then, I did my internship and residency at The Medical College of Georgia. I am board certified and a member of The American College of Surgeons. My board requires passing a re-certification exam every ten years to remain certified. My most recent re-certification was December 2015.
I founded a general surgery group, Salem Surgical, in Salem Virginia that included four other general surgeons. I then moved to Wickenburg in April of 2016, to take on the challenge of starting a new practice and surgical center at Wickenburg Community Hospital.
I was born in Washington, D.C. (please don’t hold that against me), and raised in northern Virginia. I have a beautiful wife, Adrina, who loves trail riding on her Rocky Mountain Horses. I also have 4 employed children (Boyd, Brett, Dana and Demi), three dogs (Sir Harry the Chewbokka, Lady Gaga and Frosty) and too many cats to name. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring our area on ATV’s with my friend Steve Schwarzbach (Adventures of a Lifetime), running, learning Spanish, and finding golf balls that I have miss hit.
