Dr. Ripley Best of the Burg

Robert C. Ripley, MD, FACS, General Surgeon at Wickenburg Community Hospital & Surgical Clinic (WCH) has recently been voted BEST SURGEON, by The Wickenburg Sun Readers!

Dr. Ripley is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons, in the specialty of general surgery. General Surgery is a broad specialty that includes diseases of the intestinal tract, trauma, endocrine, skin, muscle and blood vessels. Common operations and procedures include: colonoscopy, hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and surgery for cancers’ of the colon and breast. In addition to major operations, general surgeons also do office procedures to remove skin cancers, cysts, skin tags, external hemorrhoids and small tumors (lumps underneath the skin).

He began his training at The University of Virginia, followed by The Medical College of Virginia and then, he did his internship and residency at The Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Ripley is board certified and a member of The American College of Surgeons. His board requires passing a re-certification exam every ten years to remain certified and his most recent re-certification was December 2015.

Dr. Ripley founded a general surgery group, Salem Surgical, in Salem Virginia that included four other general surgeons. He then moved to Wickenburg in April of 2016, to take on the challenge of starting a new practice and surgical center at Wickenburg Community Hospital

Dr. Ripley tells more about his life by saying, “I was born in Washington, D.C. (please don’t hold that against me), and raised in northern Virginia. I have 4 employed children (Boyd, Brett, Dana and Demi), three dogs (Sir Harry the Chewbokka, Lady Gaga and Frosty) and too many cats to name. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring our area on ATV’s with my friend Steve Schwarzbach (Adventures of a Lifetime), running, learning Spanish, and finding golf balls that I have miss hit.”
