Patient Testimonial- WCH Rehabilitation

Alex Smith- WCH Rehabilitation Patient

In July of 2019 I was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident that, among other things, destroyed my left hip, requiring surgical placement of a titanium rod. After hospitalization at several facilities in Phoenix I was finally transferred to Wickenburg Community Hospital near my home to begin inpatient rehabilitation before being discharged home about a month later. At that time I was only able to walk relatively short distances with a walker. After I got home I began to fall more and more frequently requiring the local fire department to come pick me up from the floor. At this point I contacted Wickenburg Community Hospital to get scheduled for outpatient physical therapy. I had an evaluation by Cara Hamer who recommended proceeding with physical therapy, and along with Mikaila Ruiz I began treatment twice weekly, and I can now walk well with a cane and short distances without any assistive devices of any kind.

I am humbly grateful to these two physical therapists for what they have done for me to date, and I will be continuing with them until I have regained all my lost function.

My compliments also to all who took care of me as an inpatient.
