Wickenburg Community Hospital & Clinics (WCH) recently became aware Medicare Advantage plans, United Healthcare-Optum, has notified some members that their WCH primary care provider is out of network. WCH remains contracted as in-network while United Healthcare-Optum resolves this error.
This issue may also affect patient referrals. United Healthcare-Optum denied some referrals due to its system’s failure to recognize providers as being in-network. WCH is working with United Healthcare-Optum to resolve these challenges.
If you receive a notice from your United Healthcare-Optum plan regarding coverage with any WCH providers or services, please take the following steps:
1. Call your insurance company and speak to the United Healthcare-Optum representative.
2. Request assistance in updating your profile with the correct primary care provider information.
3. Bring a copy of the United Healthcare-Optum notice to Teresa Garcia, patient access supervisor, at the Community Clinic in Wickenburg, located at 519 Rose Lane.
Taking those three steps will assist in communicating with the plan, correcting provider designations, and ensuring optimal coverage for care.
